A personal experience that reshaped how I think about jobs, referrals, and clarity.
On the morning of August 6, 2024, I sat down for what I thought was a routine one-on-one with my manager. Instead, I learned I was being laid off.
It was a shock. Like many others, I moved straight into job hunting โ applying, reaching out, trying to regain control over something that suddenly felt uncertain. That experience forced me to look closely at how job searching actually works today โ not in theory, but in reality.
The hardest part wasn't rejection. It was the absence of clarity.
Some roles were no longer active. Some referral requests went unanswered. Some applications disappeared without any signal of what happened next.
Even when a role looked right on paper, there was no way to tell whether it was real, whether it was still open, whether referrals were realistic, or whether waiting made sense.
The effort wasn't the problem. The guessing was.
Eventually, I found my next role through a referral. What struck me wasn't luck โ it was contrast.
There was visibility into the process. There was intent on both sides. There was a clearer sense of where things stood.
The job search doesn't need more platforms or louder tools โ it needs clearer signals.
That realisation became the starting point for UpNexis.
UpNexis exists to bring clarity back into the job search.
Clarity on which roles are real. Clarity on whether referrals are active. Clarity on when to move forward โ and when to move on.
We believe people make better decisions when they're not left guessing. And that progress happens faster when uncertainty is reduced.
Because careers are shaped by choices โ and no one should have to make those choices in the dark.
Built to reduce uncertainty and bring clarity to your next step.
